But do I really need that Newborn Session?

Welcoming a new life into your family is a momentous occasion filled with joy, wonder, and a flurry of new experiences. Amidst the sleepless nights and countless diaper changes, there's a profound beauty in the everyday moments that define early parenthood (even if you’ve done this before). Capturing these genuine interactions is part of why we love this capture this chapter with lifestyle/documentary-style eye. We truly believe that this allows us to capture an authentic portrayal of your family's new chapter and create photos that lock in the memories and feelings forever.

Believe me, I’m a sucker for those traditional newborn photos that involves posed setups with props and backdrops. But did you know that style requires immense education on the photographer’s part to ensure safety for your little one? Honestly, I started my newborn session journey years ago terrified of accidentally not setting up a pose correctly. So I leaned into what I know and do best, focusing on connection; and if you’re looking for photos that show feelings in a low pressured setting then this might be the kind of session for you.

One of the significant advantages of our sessions is the comfort of being photographed in your own home. There's no need to pack up and travel to our studio; instead, the session unfolds in the environment where you and your baby feel most at ease. This relaxed setting allows for natural interactions and minimizes stress. However, if you’re also like me in the early days of the newborn chapter and the idea of having photos done in your home is actually nerve-wracking... I have my studio for you. I created my studio set up to mimic that home session feeling. So while it’s not the decor or theme you curated, it still allows us to give you photos with that same feeling within the picture.

I also know that it’s so easy to feel overwhelmed in general about a photos no matter where you decided to have your session, especially with less sleep than usual. Then add on that life with a newborn is unpredictable, it’s a lot. But I’m here to help you embrace this unpredictability, guide you through the session, reassure you that there is no pressure because my jam really is capturing the unscripted, real life moments. These moments are where a feeding session, a siblings silly nature, or the serene expression of your sleeping baby lie. You really won’t meet anyone that preaches a go with the flow attitude during a session like me.

I’m sure you’ve heard it almost an annoying amount of times, but time is a thief. As time passes, memories of the early days become a blur. The whirlwind of change in routine, adjusting sleep schedules, I tell everyone that you come out of the first three months of a baby like walking out of a fog. You’re in it and so present during THAT moment, but that fourth month mark hits and you’re looking around wondering how you got here already. Then you look down at your little one and you swear you were just dressing them in the newborn size, when did they get this much bigger? When did they start losing that newness and start turning into this little person with a personality?

So I know that booking the newborn session is an investment and one that you might question if you really need it, but investing in a session is more than just having pictures taken. Your session is proof that they were that little. Your session is keeping those foggy memories alive when your brain is struggling to hold on to them. Your session is an opportunity to preserve the moments and document these fleeting days. These images serve as a heartfelt reminder of the love, connection, and beauty that accompanies the arrival of your little one. These images are what you’ll be looking through when their first birthday comes around and telling everyone, “I swear it was just yesterday that we were bringing them home.”
